Sodium metabisulfite is mainly used as preservative in food applications, as an enzyme inhibitor in waste water treatment and leather tanning process. For bleaching wool and jute in textile industries. As antichlor after cotton bleaching printing and dying industry, to destroy cyanides in gold mining industry. Preservative in photo developer solutions, as reducing agent and sulfonating agent for chemical and medical industries etc.
