Triple Pass Dryer comprises a triple pass drum containing three concentric cylinders. The biomass bulk material is fed into the inner cylinder, passes to the middle cylinder and then to the outer cylinder passing a rolling motion and forming a stable product. The drum itself has internal flights which lift the bulk material and allow it to fall through the gas stream resulting in homogeneous dried biomass.
The Itons Triple Pass Dryer has been developed over a period of many years and has a unique internal flight design that is proven for biomass drying. The flights lift and shower the biomass, thus exposing it to the hot gas stream, and creating resistance to this stream that results in air classification of the biomass. The air classification of the biomass allows each particle to dry at own pace. Bigger wetter wood chips will remain in the Dryer Drum longer, while lighter drier sawdust will remain a shorter period of time in the Dryer Drum before exiting at the target moisture content. This results in optimized conditions for moisture control and particle conditioning.
