Monolaurin is also known as dodecyl-monoglycerid,is esterified by lauric acid and certain glycerolunder conditions.GLM is found in milk,palmetto and coconut oil and is usually oily,scaly or granular,color white or light yellow. GLM has many functions such as antibacterial,antifungal and improving disease resistance, survival rate and growth performance of animals.

Antibacterial Mechanism of GML
GML can easily pass through most of the cell walls of G+ bacteria(mainly composed of peptidoglycan) and some of the G- bacteria(mainly composed of LOS),such as Campylobacter jejuni, Helicobacter pylori, Haemophilus, etc. Now that GML has a good antibacterial effect on such bacteria.
