ASTM A516 Grade 55 is usually used for pressure vessel plates, carbon steel for moderate and lower-temperature service.

ASTM A516 Grade 55 plates in 40mm and under in thickness is normally supplied in the as-rolled condition. The plates may be ordered normalized or stress relieved, or both. And plates over 40mm in thickness shall be normalized.
