RO working principles
Osmosis is a physical phenomenon, when the two kinds of salty water have different concentrations, one side of water with low salinity will permeate the membrane and enter into the other side of water with high salinity, but the salinity won’t permeate the membrane, thus, until the salt concentrations of both sides are equal gradually, it will stop. This process is called natural osmosis. RO is a kind of separation method which is driven by a kind of pressure, with the help of the interception effect of semi-permeable membrane to separate the solvend from solvent in the solution.

Compositions of RO water treatment system
RO equipment is a set of water treatment equipment which is surrounding RO membrane, a complete set of RO system is composed of pretreatment, RO (membrane filtration), post-treatment and system cleaning.
1. Pretreatment is usually composed of quartz sand filtration device, active carbon filtration device, precision filter device, the full-membrane ultra filtration components can serve as the pretreatment, whose main purpose is to remove the harmful substances, such as suspended substances, particles, colloids, iron-rust, pigments, odor, biochemical organic substances, residual ammonia reduction and pesticide pollution. When the calcium and magnesium ion contents are high in raw water, we should add the softened water device, the main purpose is to protect the following RO membrane from the damage of big particles, then prolong the service life of RO membrane.
2. RO is composed of booster pump, membrane shell, RO membrane, control circuit etc, which is the core part in the whole water treatment system. Whether the product water is good or not, which is also up to the above device. As long as the model selections of membrane and booster pump are correct, the filtration ability of salinity in the water can reach to over 99%.
3. Post-treatment is to further treat pure water produced by RO, if the following device is ion exchange or EDI equipment, then the industrial ultrapure water can be produced, if we want to get the civilian-used direct drinking water, we usually add the post-sterilization device, for example: UV sterilization lamp or ozone generator, then the product water can be drunk directly.
4. In order to ensure the RO system to operate normally, and prolong the service life of RO membrane components, when RO system has been operated for a period of time, which is needed to be flush away the calcium carbonate scale, metallic oxide scale, biological growth (bacteria, fungi, mold etc) substances.
