RC508 is ester modified polyether oligomer, it can be added to a wide range of powder coatings to impart texture or other special effects such as hammer tone or veining.
Typical Properties
Appearance: Free flowing white powder
Melting Range: 70-120°C
Moisture Content: Max.0.5%
Application
RC508 is effective with a broad range of resin systems utilized by the Powder Coating. Texture patterns are influenced by specific formulation parameters, such as type of resin or pigment, pigment loading and oil absorption, type and level of flow agents.
-Can be utilized in higher flow systems
-Wide variety of texture and structure patterns
-Designed to provide uniform pattern batch to batch
-Broad compatibility
-Can be added by blending into finished product
-Reclaimed material does not lose texture
Incorporation
RC508 can be incorporated by thorough dry blending under low shear conditions into finished powder coatings. Equipment like ribbon blenders and twin cone blenders are recommended. RC508 can also be added to the flake before grinding. We do not recommend passing RC508 through the extruder.
Recommended amounts and incorporation methods
RC508 is typically used at levels of 0.3%-2.0% by weight of finished powder. At higher levels of incorporation, finer or tighter texture will result.
*As with all surface active agents, good housekeeping procedures should be observed to prevent cross contamination with other powder coatings.
